Venus In The Fifth

While on Twitter a few days ago a celebrity site tweeted a link about Usher’s divorce from his wife Tameka Foster. I’ve always been a fan of Usher’s so to see him looking so distraught, and to be honest, looking a hot mess, I had to take a peek at his chart to see what was going on. I’m going to focus on Usher’s current Transits and not so much on the court case itself.

What stood out the most for me is Ushers’s Virgo rising with Saturn close to the Ascendant. Virgo Rising people are often meticulous perfectionists who pay close attention to detail. The Ascendant also describes ones physical appearance, and Usher has always beenflawless and well groomed. Saturn is often associated with responsibility, hard work and maturity. Usher has always seemed older than he is, and started in the business at the tender age of 11 when he joined a local R&B group calledThe NuBeginnings. Usher was then discovered by Laface A&R representative L.A. Reid at the age of 13. Saturn Squares both the MC and Neptune in the fourth house indicating that his career created a home life that was not like the typical tween.

Pluto lord of the underworld is Conjunct Usher’s Libra Sun @ 20 Degrees. The Sun not only represents the ego and how we identify ourselves— it also represents the Father archetype. Sun/Pluto types often had powerful fathers who may have been domineering in some way. Usher’s father abandoned the family when Usher was only a year old. Usher has been impacted deeply by the absence of his father and this is definitely a painful subject for him. Sun/Pluto types often have an obsession with the father or fatherhood in general, and I’m sure the custody battle he is going through concerning his children is triggering feelings deeply buried (Pluto) within him concerning his own father. Transiting Saturn is forming a conjunction to Usher’s Sun and Squaring his natal Moon in Pisces in the 7th as well as his South Node in Pisces. Usher is dealing with some serious Karmic issues in terms of his relationships with women. Usher’s Natal Venus in intense/Sexual Scorpio, is a part of a Scorpio stellium that includes Mars, Uranus and Mercury. This combined with his Pisces moon makes Usher an extremely watery sensitive type who is highly intuitive in nature. Having a partner is of great importance to him, yet his Uranus/Mars conjunction can make him impulsive, causing him leap with out looking.

Transiting Pluto has entered his fourth house and will be slowly approaching his Ceres and Juno in the 5th house. Ceres in the Goddess of agriculture and the harvest. She is especially known for the loss of her child Persephone who was kidnapped by Pluto and dragged into the underworld. Astrologically Ceres can represent children, and with Pluto making it’s way to Usher’s 5th house (The 5th house represents Children!)  He is most definitely afraid of his children being “kidnapped” symbolically by Tameka (Pluto) and this has to be one of the most difficult times in his life. Transiting Neptune in Pisces is entering his 7th house and he is most definitely feeling confused, a bit detached from reality and not quite sure who he can trust. Neptune also represents substances of all kinds (Alcohol, Drugs..) and escapism. Tameka has accused Usher of drug abuse in this custody battle, and with his Moon already in Neptune ruled Pisces, I would not be surprised if this was the case.

This is probably one of the most difficult times in Usher’s life. He is dealing with heavy transits from outer Planets: Pluto, Saturn, Uranus and Neptune. These Planets are heavy hitters in the Astro-Game and when the dust settles Usher will have been taught a valuable lesson about relationships. His need for a partner is strong and Karmic in nature. My advice to him would be to focus on his own healing and take a break from the dating scene. For a Libra (With a Pisces Moon in the 7th!) being single will not be easy. From what I’ve read he is already in another relationship! I’m definitely going to keep my eye on his Astrologically.
